A "less than a week" break.
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Hey everyone. Bet you are bull by the lack of blog going on here. Well, just to let everyone know I am sick as a dog and Boots and Pup are going to go into a slight repeat cycle. Only until next Monday. I also have been having a problem with how my script updates the strip. Something to do with daylight savings. So, forgive me. It's only until I can get back on my feet… plus, there may be some new surprises going on. Actually count on it! See you in less than a week!

Florida Day 1
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Okay, so I promised some Florida impressions. My first impression was of course at how nice MCO looked flying into it. I must say that buildings in general are something else in Orlando. There seems to be ample enough room to build. Every time I've arrived has been at night so the airport is in sleep mode and each time has been easy to get out of. Now Logan in Boston is always an adventure. I will say that I seem to clear the security check points in Boston faster than Orlando, but with all of the tourists in Florida it's still been pretty fast.

This time around our plane was about an hour and a half to two hours late. By the time Nick ad I made it to the hotel it was 2am in the morning. The driver had dropped us off at the front door, but it was locked. So, we walked around to see if we could find another way in. We walked and we walked and walked some more. At each turn we met the sprinkler system. We finally made it to the door. The one we were dropped off at. A quick call and we were let in.

Where for art thou Robotman?
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Nothing to report today. Still not caring what Boots and Pup are up to. I'm sure they aren't living up to expectations. Why not hop on over to Garfield and see what he's doing. What ever happened to Robotman? Did he die?

Well tomorrow some Florida impressions.

Oh, for another vacation.
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Whoa... what happened to the color?I have to be honest with you I tried. I really did. I gave Boots and Pup everything they could possibly need to thrive on the web and all they did was fight me at every turn. I gave them the chance to engage in epic adventures and all they did was squander it. Even in punishing them they chose to stay in a world of black and white. I mean for crying out loud!

Well good for them. Since I can't be held responsible for the places they go now and the people they meet I am going to just spend my time writing in the blog. Maybe over the next few weeks I will be able to come up with a couple new characters. Ones who know a good thing when they see it.

last month I took a trip to Orlando where I had a pretty good time. The more I return there, the more I wish I could stay. Funny thing is those people who live there tell me they want to leave. I guess that falls under the grass is always greener, right? I was originally set to arrive on February 12th, but the blizzard here in Boston stopped that. It was a stroke of luck that I got back on the 25th. Jet Blue did a great job of recovering because I swore I wouldn't fly them again.

Well it's late so more on my trip tomorrow. Don't pay any attention to the two buffoons above.

Post-a-rama!
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Well, it only took six strips to get off of Hoboworld. I tried to depart as quick as possible while still allowing for the medallion to be addressed a bit. Now for those who are keeping track, pay attention to it. Big stuff here right from the get go.

With Hoboworld left behind the adventure is now wide open. Be prepared for some really cool adventures over the coming weeks!

I hope all of the strips have been updating. I have been out of town since monday and return today. Been living it up in Orlando with a very special person. I hope that the new format has been holding your attention. I can't wait until you read next weeks adventure. It's where the strip really takes off.

Pup did get them both kicked out of school and I am willing to keep it as before (Kissing girls). I think it's more important that Pup really didn't understand the structure etiquette and still doesn't. Tooting to him is like bouncing to Tiger. They just do it.

Pup's Turn
Posted by John Y. Jr.

For those who have gone back to the last time I told the stories of these two you are bound to see a bit of variation. I still hold that the two of them met in college, both from different sides of the track. I don't think Boots coming from privlage was an accurate representation of who he is. I see him as being more of a safe person, versus "upper class". This in some ways is how I am. I like to play it safe. It has been the Pups in my life who have pushed me further and in that I have learned a lot more about myself.

One of the biggest things in todays strip is of course the medallion. With this I begin to provide clues as to where Pup came from. I know that countless times throughout literature those who come from nowhere really have a lot to discover. Maybe it's because those of us who have our lives spelled out for us don't really see the big picture because it's right in front of us.

Happy Valentine's Day!

A new Story Line!
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Well, here begins the great Boots and Pup adventure of 2006. How better to start off than with a recap of where they come from? I'm also trying something a little different. I didn't mean for the strip to be this way. It just kind of happened in an organic nature. Removing the borders has allowed me to see the strip as a whole and design based on the whole. I will try and get away with this as often as I can.

I hope everyone enjoys the new direction and keep in mind, these characters are more about just gags and schtick. They have voices, opinions and at times the glimpse of a soul.

Also working to finalize the comic. It will kick off the store hopefully by next week. Got some t-shirts and prints too. You have to see the quality of these pieces. It's amazing.

Hello, Dolly!
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Well this is the last strip before the new storyline. I hope that it's not going to confuse anyone. The last eight strips kind of existed out of the continuity, but I felt were needed for new readers. Starting Monday, the story picks up right after "Inherit The Toot". The guys are still on Hoboworld and it's three days after Unca Crusty died. I really hope everyone comes back on Monday… it's going to be one heck of a ride!

PC Weenies
Posted by John Y. Jr.

I would like to take a moment to thank Krishna Sadasivam of The long running strip, PC Weenies, for the very kind words he spoke of Boots and Pup over at his site. I encourage you folks to check it out and see what dedication is all about. It's a funny and very colorful techno-minded gag strip. I hope you'll be reading Boots and Pup seven years from now!
Wednesday will be the official Update Nic's Aliens Page! She has a cute one coming as part of her Alien Family theme. Stay tuned!

I'd like a vacation.
Posted by John Y. Jr.

The vacation they speak of is the break between August and now. Originally this was to be the first strip of the new series, but I wanted it to be contained within a full week, Monday through Friday. So, since the first was on a Wednesday I gave you the previous three.

About the TOOT. I must admit, Pup developed this habit not because it was his destiny, but more because my humor very rarely let’s something like this… er… pass. Last year I was asked to change a gas joke from an ad campaign on another comic site. Guess it’s not in everyone’s cup.

I hope everyone gets a chance to check out my links section. It’s up and running and these are a bunch of great sites. If there is anyone out there who would like a link, by all means drop me a line and I will gladly check your stuff out!

Look, A Sunday Post!
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Well, here we are into the second week of the new strip. I guess by now folks can see a bit of a difference between the characters from last year’s strips. There are a couple different reasons, the first being they are easier to draw now. The very first strip I did took me eight hours! I am almost embarrassed to admit that. For those of you out there who know Adobe Illustrator, there are many ways to the same end. The original strips were stacked with layer upon layer, and multiples of the same objects. Moving limbs was a really daunting task. By the time I wrapped up the last strip in August I could do one in about 2 hours.

Problem was I wasn’t content with the way things looked anymore. I knew with the new found skills I had developed, I could make them better. I tried and boy what a dog. The baby went out with the bathwater and busted it’s head on the sidewalk. I had over designed and evaporated the strips soul. That went on for about a month and was expunged from the site. Maybe years from now they will resurface, but not by my hands.

So, third time out and I really feel as if I have captured what made the first few stories work as well as expand for the future. The strips you will see for the next week are just simple glimpses into the characters because on February 13th, they begin a great adventure which will span the beginning and end of the series. I can’t wait to share theses strips with you.

Three To Get Ready, Now Go Cat, Go!
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Well here it is... the first new Boots and Pup comic since August. I guess I can make excuses as to why it has taken so long, but I'd rather talk about the future and where it is all going. Plus since I am now updating Monday - Friday I hope to make up for lost time.

For about a week the strips will present Boots and Pup in a bubble. A way to examine who they are and how they interact with each other. This will serve as a starting off point for those readers who are new as well as give old readers a chance to take in the new look and feel.

A week from this Monday, the strip will kick off an adventure that will take Boots and Pup on an amazing journey across the universe. I am really excited by the story I am about to tell.

By this monday expect my links page to be up and humming as well as the first two items to be sold in the store.

Thank you for joining me this past year and I hope that I can keep you for another!

One for the money, Two for the show...
Posted by John Y. Jr.

Well I guess this is the post before the major event. Event you say? Yeah, as of February first Boots and Pup will be posting new strips five days a week. My goal is to provide a regular place people can come and escape for a brief moment away from the life that surrounds them. It may be at work, or school. Maybe right before dinner. Either way, if I can provide a small punchline or laugh then it served it's purpose.

The next week and a half will present a reintroduction to the Boots and Pup dynamic, then with a huge commitment and enthusiasm will take them on the greatest adventure of their life. I hope that it will be the best darn adventure I can provide for the readers.

I hope you are along for the ride!
